I rented Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Thursday, and spent much of Friday night and this morning playing through it. It was well worth the rental, but I'm glad I didn't buy it. The good: those guys at Pandemic know how to do hovertanks. You get to fly/drive a variety of very cool ships that you saw at the end of Episode II (including the gunships, which have a very cool multi-targeting weapon). You get to fight in the midst of very large battles, without worrying about controlling the whole battle. The bad: the story is pretty lame. These are the Clone Wars? This is what I've been waiting so long for? Why does every game/book rely on some giant stupid ancient force-powered weapon that you have to destroy? Has anyone noticed that the movies NEVER EVER have giant stupid force powered weapons? The Death Star? NOT FORCE POWERED. Also, the voice acting and the character models are pretty cheesy. 12:31:59 PM ()
