Some book recommendations, Dear Readers:
- Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn. Ninja love story with elements of Star Wars Episode 4.
- The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Two people meet and fall in love, but one of them has a disease: he's unstuck in time. So the ways in which they meet and live are at a sharp left turn from linearity. It's a great love story, that also happens to have a nifty sci-fi hook. Snerk!
- Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. As Stephen King points out, it's not Harry Potter for grownups, since Harry Potter is Harry Potter for grownups. But it'll do as well as anything for an explanation. Good stuff.
Also, Pete Su makes with the funny in his disparaging of Metal Gear Stupid. I can't disagree.
Finally, I keep meaning to write more about the Vampire CRPG. Basically, I'm totally hooked. They haven't really innovated, and the combat system has flaws, but if you liked Fallout or Planescape: Torment, you'll like this. Especially if you have any dorky love for the White Wolf-o-verse. 11:55:13 PM ()
