Dumbing down American readers [via Scripting News].
This guy is pretty much full of shit. He writes, "[Stephen King] shares nothing with Edgar Allan Poe." Which, considering that King shares everything with Poe except for the fact that he's (a) not dead, and (b) making money, says everything about Bloom's evaluation criteria.
Sure, I think there are writers who are more technically skilled or more literary (whatever that means) than King. But he's one of the most joyful and influential contemporary American writers, and you'd be a fool not to recognize that. His On Writing is great, great stuff. 5:07:04 PM ()
