How to pronounce "Willamette" (as in the Willamette Valley, or Willamette University).
A public service for those of you misled by tonight's West Wing episode. Geez, you'd think Jed Bartlet would get these details right.
I asked the Willamette U office of Alumni Relations the big question... why is it pronounced this way? The answer, as I suspected is that "it was adapted from the region, [and is pronounced] as the native americans who named the Willamette River and the Willamette Valley had intended it to be pronounced." 12:54:30 AM
