Oh, I did finally see Equilibrium. It's got a slow start, and frankly, it mostly has no new ideas in the whole "fascist future thoughtcontrol regime" milieu. However, it does successfully meld action with bleak 1984 imagery, and it has a surprisingly good payoff. My main complaint was that I didn't find the "I have no emotions" part of the acting convincing; it felt more like "my only emotion is that I'm vaguely pissed off all the time." It became more interesting when he started having emotions, and turned out to be totally unprepared for them. 9:19:33 AM ()

Sorry, back to low-post mode -- too busy spending my spare time on KOTOR :).
However, I'm happy to report that mission "thirtieth birthday" was a success; Skye came over and we watched all of the Matrix to date. All of it. The Matrix, the Animatrix, the 35 minutes or so of footage from Enter the Matrix, and then found the one theater in town that was still playing Reloaded. Whoah.
(And my birthday present to myself was to accelerate Carrie & my plans for a 5.1 speaker setup, so double whoah. Perhaps, even, "dude." Did I mention most XBox games support 5.1 digital audio?) 1:15:57 AM ()
