Jakob Nielsen is an incredibly smart guy, but he conveniently ignores two things about Apple: OS X also supports pervasive anti-aliased fonts (and you don't have to turn it on by default); and Apple's strategy is as much about easy to use and well-integrated apps (see iPhoto and the iPod) as it is about innovative hardware design.
I also think he understates the utility of a monitor you can easily move to be closer to you (as I type this, I'm manfully trying not to lean my back over to get closer to my laptop's screen, and wishing that I had a similar arm attached to this thing :) ), but I recognize that that's not the point he's trying to make. 11:52:44 AM
