I've gotta say, so far the Cupertino trips don't compare to the Pittsburgh trips. The Hilton Garden Inn in Cupertino is a pale shadow of the Appletree .
Still, we got some pretty darn nice feedback on the project this morning. I do feel like a bit of a badass :). 9:48:44 PM

OK, let's see if this works.
Hey, Dave! This morning's feature request -- we need a "delete all" button in the news aggregator!

In e-mail this morning from my brother Doug:
The record is officially ours. 153 consecutive days at sea, and counting.
Love,
Doug
Congratulations to the men and women of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71)! They now hold the record for longest deployment at sea without ever touching port. Some additional context (from an earlier e-mail):
We are ever closer to this record, [...] I got some further clarification, apparently 144 days was the Nimitz's record, which I think we've tied today, 154 (or maybe 152) is the ALL TIME NAVY record, set by the IKE, I'm not sure when. But apparently it is the all time U.S. Navy record for any ship, and that counts World War II, Vietnam, and everything else. We are headed for the books! I was told by a guy from OPS this morning on the fantail that even back in WWII, ships that were deployed for long long times hit a port at least SOMEWHERE in their cruises. Not us, though. I realize I'm using a lot of CAPS in this email. Anyway, all is well out here, I can definitely see and feel the light at the end of the tunnel.
It sounds like Doug's not going too stir-crazy -- at least they're keeping them well set up for beer and "steel beach" parties. :) 7:04:42 AM
